S. Korean Eyewear Brand Gentle Monster Launches First Store in Japan

South Korean luxury eyewear brand Gentle Monster has launched its first brick-and-mortar store in Japan, at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store in Osaka
The store features a kinetic installation dubbed ‘The Giant Head,’ which is a collaboration with Selfridges and Reference Studios.
The store offerings include its “Bold Collection”, which features the stars of the galaxy as metaphors for its boldness.
Gentle Monster‘s design philosophy goes from extraordinary to understated,
Hankook Kim created the Gentle Monster in 2011 to fill what he perceived as a vacuum in the Asian market by bringing the large eyewear trend to the next level.
In March, Gentle Monster partnered with Maison Margielh to open pop-up shops worldwide.
